(Example: HP Chromebook 11 x360 - G3 EE)
To fix some Chromebook problems, you might need to reset your Chromebook hardware, also called a hard reset.
It will restart your Chromebook hardware. This will not affect any files in google, google classroom, gmail..etc.
Hard reset your Chromebook
For most Chromebooks, follow the steps below:
-
Make sure chromebook is plugged in to power
-
Lift up the lid of the chromebook so you see the keyboard.
-
Press and hold Refresh + tap Power .
-
When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh .
Your device should power on now. If your device still does not power on, it’s probably due to the battery not being charged. You may need to plug in the device and then do the hard reset. Then keep your device plugged in to charge the battery.
You’re done!
Alternatively, if you cannot powerwash using the above method, but can get to the sign in screen of the chromebook, try this once you have reached the sign in screen:
Sign out of your Chromebook. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r. Select Restart. In the box that appears, select Powerwash. Continue. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
